ABOUT US
Hi! Thanks for taking the time to learn more about Newman's Automotive. Our Sumter auto repair shop is owned and operated by Woody Newman, whose step-father started the business in 1979. Woody grew up working on vehicles (since the age of 9), and took automotive mechanics in high school, graduating at the top of his class. Today, Woody is ASE-certified in engine repair, manual drive trains and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical/electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance. He also attends three or more hours of training and continuing education monthly.
When Woody’s step-father became sick in 2012, he had to stop working, and Woody and his mother began operating the shop. In 2013, Woody’s mother was ready to shut down the business because of all the responsibility, but Woody decided to try to keep it going, and put the shop in his own name. It was the right decision. The business grew, and when property became available in October of 2015—which included a 6,000-square foot shop, separate office space, and five acres of land—Woody made the purchase, and moved Newman’s Automotive to its new location in February of 2016.
“As an auto shop owner, I love seeing our customers satisfied with our repairs and service, knowing they appreciate us just as we appreciate them. I also love seeing my techs smiling after making the right diagnostic call on a tough job, and giving a well-earned bonus, knowing it will help a family.”
